Traditional Standard
10kwh Solar Battery
Based on the installation of a traditional 10kWh solar battery, the customer can expect to experience approximately a 10% loss in maximum savings due to the battery's inability to fully charge during cloudy days or when high-power appliances like air conditioning or microwave are used, which exceed the maximum discharge rate of the battery.
Additionally, the efficiency of the battery deteriorates each year, with an average degradation rate of 30% over 10 years, as specified in most battery warranty terms.
The maximum savings that the customer can expect to achieve in the 1st year can be calculated as follows:
9.5kWh x $0.32 x 365 days x 90% = $998.64

10kwh Solar Battery
The customer in this solution has an existing 6.6kW solar panel system and is adding a 10kWh battery. The customer is able to use our retrofit booster usage plan which is a total of 400kWh per month from both the battery and the grid, and the supply charge is fully covered at 100%.
As a backup, the grid provides free electricity, so the inability of the battery to fully charge during cloudy days or when high-power appliances like air conditioning or microwave are in use and exceed the maximum discharge rate of the battery, does not affect the customer's electricity bill savings.
Each year, the battery efficiency deteriorates, but this can be offset by using the free electricity from the grid. As a result, the customer's 1st year electricity bill savings are as follows:
400kwh x 12 months x $0.32 + $1.1 x 365 = $1,937.50
